The sweetest gift from God above
They're always ready to give more love
They stay home with us after school
With warm homemade cookies-what a jar full!
When we get in trouble with Mom or Dad
Gramms come running with her cane and rod
"How dare you yell at my grandson", she exclaims
"Go to your room, I'll take the blame"!
Grandpa is bent with bones so frail
Still he's thrilled to get on the grill
For a weekend barbecue in his yard
The whole clan's tummies were caught off-guard.
What will we do without grandparents?
I think we'd be lost and get all confused
They are the best thing that ever happened to us
So while they're here let's give them our best.
