Motivation Skills for the
Activity and Recreation Leader

Course
Requirements : Take the provided pretest; read the book "Getting
People Involved in Life and Activities : Effective Motivating
Techniques" by Jeanne Adams, MA, CTRS, ACC; take the provided
post test; and complete the worksheet.
You may mail or fax your materials to DH Special Services. Once
the materials are received and a passing grade of 70 is determined,
your certificate will be mailed to you. If you are in need of
the certificate sooner, a copy can be faxed to you and the original mailed.
Course
Content: The reading and the worksheet will guide the activity
professional in understanding basic concepts of motivation and
specific motivational techniques.
Understanding the changing needs of the elderly, methods to interest
and engage the elder in group and 1-1 activities as well as self
motivational techniques for staff will be discussed.
