Developing
a Resident Council
NCCAP approved 4.5 hours

Requirements : Take the provided pretest; read the book
"Resident Council Handbook" by the Resident Councils of Washington;
and take the provided post test.. You may mail or fax your completed
materials to DH Special Services. Once the materials are received
and a passing grade of 70 is determined, your certificate will
be mailed to you. If you are in need of the certificate sooner,
a copy can be faxed to you and the original mailed.
Course Content: The reading will introduce the activity
professional to the requirements, intent and purpose of resident
councils in nursing homes, health care centers and other senior
living residences. The reading will provide the activity and recreation
professional with a clear understanding of how to organize a council,
motivate participation amongst its members and guidance in creating
opportunities for residents to make and execute meaningful decisions.
